Lakehaven Water & Sewer District — Backflow Testing Requirements Federal Way and nearby areas of south King County

If you received a backflow testing notice from Lakehaven Water & Sewer District, this page explains how their program works and how to schedule a certified tester.

Schedule Backflow Test

The short version

  • Testing cycle: Annual. Every backflow assembly on your property must be tested by a Washington State certified Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT).
  • Who sends the report: Under Lakehaven Water & Sewer District's program, your tester sends the completed report to the utility.
  • Deadline: By the due date on your notice.
  • What happens if you miss it: Lakehaven's program page doesn't list penalties. Testing is required by state law (WAC 246-290-490); contact the district if you can't test by your due date.

How reports are submitted to Lakehaven Water & Sewer District

Lakehaven mails a notice before your due date with a blank Backflow Prevention Assembly Test Report form and a tester resource list. Completed results go to the district's Cross-Connection Control section by mail, email or in person, and the district's site also has an online form for submitting a test report.

Cities served by Lakehaven Water & Sewer District

Properties in these cities may be under Lakehaven Water & Sewer District's compliance program — but confirm against your specific notice, since some cities are split across multiple purveyors.

Notes

Lakehaven runs a premises isolation program. Non-residential water services need an approved assembly right after the water meter. Residential properties need one for a separate fire or irrigation service, and for fire sprinklers or irrigation supplied by the domestic meter. Each assembly is tested by a Washington Department of Health certified tester when installed, annually, after any repair, and if it is relocated.
